HUB hosts a national conference on “Language Education and Research Conference - LERCON 2026”

Ho Chi Minh City, July 22, 2026 - The Ho Chi Minh University of Banking (HUB) successfully hosted the national Language Education and Research Conference – LERCON 2026, bringing together a diverse community of scholars, lecturers, researchers, postgraduate and undergraduate students from several academic institutions across Vietnam.

The conference provided a forum for scholarly exchange, the sharing of emerging research findings, and the strengthening of collaboration among researchers in linguistics and language education. In the era of rapid digital transformation and the accelerating development of artificial intelligence, LERCON 2026 offered a range of perspectives on the opportunities and challenges facing stakeholders in foreign-language teaching, learning, and research community.

The conference’s highlight was the featured presentation titled Artificial Intelligence, Consciousness, and the Future of Language Learning by Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Vu. The presentation examined the increasingly far-reaching impact of Artificial Intelligence on language education while raising broader academic questions about AI consciousness and cognitive capabilities, as well as the evolving roles of learners and educators in the future.

Following the plenary session, the conference moved into four parallel thematic sessions addressing some of the most pressing issues in contemporary foreign-language education and research:

  • Foreign Language Teaching Methodology: Presentations on teaching models and strategies in higher-education contexts;
  • Artificial Intelligence in Language Education: Research examining AI applications in teaching, learning, assessment, and the development of digital learning materials;
  • Chinese Language Teaching and Language Assessment: Recent developments in Chinese language education and approaches to foreign-language testing and assessment;
  • Linguistics: Research spanning discourse analysis, pragmatics, translation, and interdisciplinary approaches to language studies.

The sessions generated academic exchanges, with presentations shedding light on emerging research trends as well as practical approaches to improving the quality of foreign-language teaching in an increasingly internationalized educational landscape. Discussions between presenters and participants provided an opportunity to explore key disciplinary questions in greater depth while fostering connections among researchers and lecturers from several educational institutions.
