On the early morning of December 3rd, 2025, in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the 36 Ton That Dam campus, Ho Chi Minh University of Banking (HUB) held the seminar entitled “Building and Developing the Curriculum for Chinese Language Education–Full-Time Undergraduate Program” to gather essential data and collect valuable feedback from internal and external experts, businesses, and employers, recruiters and others to finalize the new major curriculum scheduled to be launched in 2026.
The seminar was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung – Rector of the University, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Luu Hon Vu – Deputy Head of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, and as a chairman of Chinese Language unit, and Ma’am. Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Dung – Deputy Head of the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
A warm welcome to our honored guests joining the seminar today, including Dr. Nguyen Ly Uy Han – Head of the Chinese Language Department, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Ho Chi Minh City Open University; Dr. Lai Khai Vinh – Deputy Dean, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Van Hien University; Dr. Vuong Hue Nghi – Head of Language Skills Department, Chinese Language Faculty, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education; Mr. Qiu Shenxu – Deputy Director of Human Resources, the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the Bank of China; Sir. Chen Lishan – Team Leader, Corporate Credit Department, the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the Bank of China; Dr. Van Trung Hieu – Editor-in-Chief, Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper (Chinese edition); Sir. Truong Minh Trung – Training Planner, OPPO; Ma’am. Dau Thi Mai Duc – Director of Administration and Chief Accountant, Ho Team Construction Co., Ltd.; Ma’am. Nguyen Thi Truong An – Director, An An Trading, Services and Tourism Co., Ltd.; along with university lecturers and HUB students from the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
In delivering the opening speech, Prof., Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung highlighted the importance of HUB’s Chinese language development and HUB’s strategic direction, mission and vision for the fixed period of 2026–2030 in developing fields related to legal technology and language technology with a solid economic–financial foundation. Chinese language taught at HUB will be highly expected to create a highly distinctive position in the labor market by using integrating AI and digital competencies and practical performances, requiring Chinese language students to achieve Chinese at level 5 out of 6 and English at level 3 out of 6; and adding extra specific courses such as Discrete Mathematics, Money – Banking, and Financial Technology.

Next, Assoc Prof., Dr. Luu Hon Vu presented the draft curriculum including general objectives, specific targets and aims pertaining to learning outcome, career opportunities, credit load, admission targets, and the program structure.

According to internal, external and honored experts, they totally praised the draft program for its clear orientation, ability to meet labor market needs, articulation within training pathways, and strong industry linkage. As wonderful contributors, experts also proposed strengthening HUB-identity courses should be prioritized, scheduling courses within the program map should be under close attention, adding corporate internship and soft-skills courses need to be focused, and developing learning materials needs to be satisfied. Especially, businesses, entrepreneurs highly appreciated the Legal Chinese course and shared workforce needs for Chinese-speaking personnel in finance – trade, logistics, and banking sectors.

In his closing remarks, Prof., Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung acknowledged and expressed his profound appreciation for valuable contributions and strongly emphasized that HUB will continue refining and perfecting the curriculum towards modernization, integration, and stronger industry linkage, aiming to build a robust training–research ecosystem in language and economics. The seminar concluded in an open, cooperative atmosphere with high expectations for the launch of a high-quality training program that meets demand for Chinese-language human resources in the not-so-distant future.
