On November 27, 2024, the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking successfully convened the seminar on "Collaborative Writing to Help Students Improve Their Writing Quality." The event featured the participation of over 100 attendees, including guest speakers, faculty members, and students from the university.

In her opening address, Dr. Lê Thị Thùy Nhung, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking emphasized the significance of the collaborative writing approach in enhancing students’ academic writing skills.
Following the opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phạm Vũ Phi Hổ, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Van Lang University, delivered the keynote presentation. He shared his research findings on this approach, highlighting that collaborative writing not only serves as an effective teaching method to improve students’ writing but also enhances their soft skills and teamwork.

Mr. Nguyễn Thành Tuân proceeded with the presentation on the current practice of teaching writing at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, HUB. He analyzed the strengths and limitations observed in the teaching and learning of writing courses at the faculty.

In addition to gaining insights from the expert presentations, the students actively participated in group activities held during the seminar. These included writing introductions about the university and discussing the benefits of collaborative writing. Through the feedback and discussions, students recognized that this method enhances critical thinking, expands ideas, and improves learning efficiency. The faculty lecturers also shared their experience in applying collaborative writing in teaching and engaged with the guest speaker to discuss solutions to challenges, such as group management and the integration of technology in teaching writing.

The seminar concluded with a closing address by Dr. Nguyễn Quang Nhật, Head of the ESP Division, who emphasized the pivotal role of collaborative writing in the context of modern education. Furthermore, the speakers and students reached a consensus on the importance of integrating digital tools and revising the curriculum to better align with students' proficiency levels.
The seminar serves as a venue to facilitate the exchange of expertise and inspire the adoption of innovative teaching and learning approaches for writing skills, thereby enhancing the BA program at the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
