Economic globalization proves that foreign languages in general, English and Chinese in particular, play a very important role as an indispensable bridge between Vietnam and the world. The demand for human resources with English and Chinese fluency is increasing rapidly.
Capturing the needs of the society, Ho Chi Minh Banking University has developed an English-Chinese Bilingual educational program which tentatively enrolls in 2022.
On January 27, 2022, the Faculty of Foreign Languages - Ho Chi Minh Banking University held a seminar "Development of the English - Chinese Bilingual Educational Program" to collect insights from English language experts, business representatives, lecturers and alumni representatives.
The honored guests came Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung – Vice President of HUB; MSc. Bui My Ngoc – Vice Dean of Faculty of Foreign Languages – UEH; MSc. Esq.Do Trong Hien – Director of CTB Do Gia Luat Co., Ltd.; MSc. Pham Thi Thu Ha – Director of Lagom Training and Career Company and MSc. Tran Duc Minh – K23 Alumnus of the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung opened the meeting with emphasis on the role of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, the importance of the English Language and the Chinese Language in society and the trend of economic globalization, and the orientation of the Faculty of Foreign Languages. In the future, Faculty of Foreign Languages is expected to complete the training program, being ready to enroll for the English-Chinese Bilingual Program in 2022.

The program was enriched with numerous and valuable feedback from experts, business representatives, lecturers and alumni representatives.

The program with logical training structure provides a solid foundation in both English and Chinese languages for a period of 3.5 to 4 years, helping students to meet the ability in English, as well as Chinese for work, MSc. Bui My Ngoc said. He proposed adding an enterprise semester to enhance practical exposure for students.
Being a lecturer representative, Dr. Dao Nguyen Anh Duc shared the possible difficulties during program implementation, raised the needs for lecturers to update their knowledge and professional skills continuously to adapt to the program as well as fulfill student needs.
MSc. Do Trong Hien and MSc. Pham Thi Thu Ha both agreed that English - Chinese Bilingual graduates have a great competitive advantage while enterprises are in great demand for human resources with English and Chinese fluency. This is also the learnings during practical work at the enterprise, MSc. Tran Duc Minh – alumnus, added.
The seminar also received many questions and valuable comments from the final year students and lecturers of the Faculty about training programs and future job opportunities.
This is the foundation for the Faculty of Foreign Languages to complete the training program, in line with the needs of the labor market, and create conditions and competitive advantages for students upon graduation.
